I am happy to report that my walking has continued throughout the current Covid-19 situation. Since I tend to walk in the evenings anyway, my excursions are generally quiet. Nevertheless, there have been fewer folks out and about at 9pm when I typically go. It has been an interesting experience to see how physical distancing practices are implemented when the streets are empty. If someone is coming toward me there is always a moment of thinking “OK, who is going to move?” Sometimes it’s me, sometimes it’s the other person who crosses the street as if that was what they had intended to do all along.
Regardless, while it is still odd to go for a 2km walk around the neighbourhood and only encounter 5 people, I have to say I am enjoying the stillness.
Let’s see how things unfold as the evenings get longer. I may have to start waiting until midnight to go!
